Now, deviantART introduces some kind of portfolio thing. It's great and shiny and clean. Basically you pay a small amount of money (for the dA branding-free version) and you put your stuff in a cheap customizable tabbed glorified agenda.. and there you are, you've got a portfolio.
As a graphic/web designer, to me this is a huge failure.
For one thing, a couple of us are going to hav to find another way to pay the rent, because who needs expensive professional work when you can just upload a few JPGs into a customizable template?
Then there's the true failure: web farms. What i call web farms are sites like myspace, youtube, deviantart, etc. where people willingly stack themselves in a tiny bit of a url to e-exist. I find them hostile or maybe just sterile.
I'm not angry or anything, I just don't see anything in here that ressembles in any way the deviantART I joined in 2003. I may not be uploading anything more to this site, ever again. If you're on my page and I've removed "everything" but this journal, then it seems I decided to take that away, too.
If you need me I'll be in real life.
